Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Frederique and I!
A belated Happy Valentine’s Day to you from me and the rest of the Maid of Hearts Cafe! <3 I hope you had a great one, and are enjoying lots of discounted candy now!
Maid Cafes were started in Japan with the idea of combining delicious treats with personalized, pampering entertainment from a server. The servers take on a different persona and wear cute costumes,…
I did a small write-up on what a Maid Cafe is! Please check it out.
There will be more updates in this blog in the future, Frederique the Arpakasso and I have some special treats planned!
Hello everyone! It’s time for another plush review!
This time, I’d like to introduce you to one of my favorite plush, my vampire prince from SweetsHaven! I’ve recently named him Charles the First. I adore him!
I found Charles when wandering through Artists’ Alley at Kentokyocon this summer. I stopped by a booth and immediately fell in love! Everything about him was that perfect mix of cute and spooky that I love so very much! I’m in real trouble when SweetsHaven lists more plush like this, I may accumulate an army!
My vampire prince is made of fleece and felt. I want to take a moment to say I have NEVER seen anyone use felt as well as Sweets Haven! Oftentimes, felt looks like it was used as a cheap alternative, but I don’t get that impression at all looking at Prince Charles’ accessories. It looks wonderfully pro, with sharp, clean lines.
He’s the perfect size at eleven inches tall (including his crown.) Everything about his construction is solid. I am very impressed with how professional his shape is—and how it’s just slightly different than his brother’s!
I think the tiny details are what make him such a wonderful plush. There are little jewels on his crown and the tiny chain decorating his cape. The cutest features are his tiny little vampire fangs—absolutely precious!
I admit I almost had to fight Maid Amaranth for him, but she ended up bringing his adorable brother home with her. We’ll have to take more photos together with them someday!
So please check out SweetsHaven at Etsy, I absolutely recommend their work and the prices are fantastic. Aside from these adorable plush, they also sell lovely lolita accessories.
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed your fall. It’s winter now in Pittsburgh, which means snow and cold! I’m not a very big fan of cold, but I think snow is really pretty and a lot of fun!
In the spirit of winter, this month’s plush review is going to be of a penguin! Please meet Mr. Pengu!
Mr. Pengu was a gift of a friend, who got him from Oboro Charms. Unfortunately, their site is down and there has been no activity on their facebook since May. It’s a shame, because they had very adorable designs and had just finished a successful Kickstarter for an owl plush very similar to Mr. Pengu in June. However, her deviantart and her tumblr are still up so you can at least view all the adorable things, even if you can’t buy them!
Mr. Pengu is a very well made guy! At just 5 inches tall, he can fit into your hand easily. He’s a little roly-poly—he’ll remain upright, but slightly off balance when you set him down to display.
His cheeks and eyes are embroidered, and his scarf is made separately—although it’s only stitched on in a few places, so if I REALLY wanted to I could take it off (but then he’d be cold!) The beak, tail, wings and feet are all very nicely shaped and stuffed. His head has two bits of fabric that add some detail.
My favorite thing about Mr. Pengu, besides his adorable design, is how very soft he is! I love to pet and hold him.
Overall I’m very sad that Oborocharms is no longer active, and I hope they return someday. I would love to get an owl to keep Mr. Pengu company, and I highly recommend their quality work!
KuroKiiro’s all oveer ;o; In case you all didn’t know I went to an anime convention near where I live and I just came back from it~ It was a lot of fun even though it’s a pretty small convention! I got to see some panels that were more so about Japanese culture rather than anime so that was…
Aw thank you so much princess! We had a wonderful time serving you, and your coloring was wonderful!
Are you ready? Frederique and I are!
Why hello everyone! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been getting ready for our next convention—Kurokiiro Festival in Pittsburgh, PA, on the very first weekend of November. I hope to see you there!
Now, let’s get to my latest plush review!
Today I’d like to introduce you to my friend, Mr. Carlos Candy Corn! (it’s not a very creative name, I know). He’s been with me for almost three years now, but I’d like to do a plush review anyways so you can learn about my friend, Manifested Dreams!
Manifested Dreams is an artist you may see around Artists’ Alleys in the Northeastern US area (and you can visit her Etsy here!) She makes adorable jewelry as well as amigurumi—including the wonderful Octobloop!
Mr. Carlos is my first purchase from Manifested Dreams. I met him at the second Kurokiiro Festival, where she was a vendor. I fell in love immediately! I love Halloween, and while candy corn upsets my stomach, a plush one was just perfect.
Mr. Carlos is the perfect size— 5 1/2 inches tall and 4 1/2 wide at the base. He’s very firmly stuffed—no loose stuffing here! And even after being tossed about for three years, he’s maintained his shape and vibrant colors. Of course, I’m not sure he likes how much I playfully toss him in the air—maybe that’s why he has a slightly disgruntled face?
In conclusion, I highly recommend Manifested Dreams for all your adorable needs! Please check out her Etsy and Deviantart, I’m sure you’ll love them!
Happy First Day of Fall masters and princesses!
Get ready for everything orange, pumpkin flavored, and Halloween!
Maid Melody and Maid Lily are super ready!
What is your favorite part of fall? ∩( ・ω・)∩
I had such a fantastic time at Kentokyocon!
It was really hot and a long journey to Kentucky, but everything about the con made it worth it. I got to meet so many wonderful princes and princesses at our cafe, and Casual Sunday with the Maid Cafe was a whole lot of fun! I am so awed by the wonderful coloring everybody did. It was really hard to pick winners during our coloring contest! We saved every one and I’m going to hang some on my wall.
I really love the Kentokyo staff and attendees, and I cannot wait to go again. I hope everyone else had as much fun as we did!
Here’s a photo of me and a wonderful prince making moe poses! He was very good at it—I might even say it’s a hidden talent!
Looking forward to seeing you at another con soon!
